New Book "Cult Cinema: An Arrow Video Companion" Coming Soon!

New from Arrow Video US
Cult Cinema: An Arrow Video Companion
Limited Edition Hardback Book
246 pages - Dimension: 22 x 2.8 x 28 cm

Available on March 29th via MVD Entertainment Group

Arrow Video is one of the foremost distributors of cult cinema on DVD and Blu-ray. From the classic to the obscure, the Arrow Video collection encompasses all styles and genres: horror films and Westerns, science fiction and sex comedies, yakuza epics and neo-noirs, the subversive, the transgressive and the unclassifiable. This hardback volume brings together 25 of the world's leading genre experts and critics to guide you through the multi-faceted beast that is cult cinema.

Exploring the stars, the filmmakers and the trends, Cult Cinema: An Arrow Video Companion approaches its subject from five angles. Each section is devoted to a different facet of cult filmmaking - the opening chapter features seven essays devoted to key cult movies, and is followed by those on directors, actors, genres (and sub-genres), and finally distribution, which examines how different methods of seeing a film, from travelling shows to DVDs, has allowed cult films and their audiences to flourish.
The aim is not to provide a definitive guide to cult cinema but rather, as the subtitle proclaims, a companion. Cult movies means many things to many people - Ben Wheatley's introduction touches on the manner in which he discovered the underbelly of cinema, but it won't be shared by everyone, of course - and everyone will have their own favorites.

Consider this book as a look at cult cinema through the lens of Arrow Video, a pretty broad view: Tinto Brass, Joe Dante, science fiction, super 8, Suzuki Seijun, Boris Karloff, Battle Royale, horror all-nighters, video nasties and much more besides. Something familiar, something fresh, something that might just introduce you to a whole new world of filmmaking and its enthusiastic fandom.
Complete list or writers: Robin Bougie, Michael Brooke, Paul Corupe, David Del Valle, David Flint, Cullen Gallagher, Kevin Gilvear, Joel Harley, David Hayles, Pasquale Iannone, Alan Jones, Tim Lucas, Michael Mackenzie, Maitland McDonagh, Tom Mes, John Kenneth Muir, Kim Newman, James Oliver, Vic Pratt, Jasper Sharp, Kenneth J. Souza, Mike Sutton, Stephen Thrower, Caelum Vatnsdal, and Douglas Weir.

LEE MAJORS and TED RAIMI announced as cast members for Season 2 of Ash vs Evil Dead

Well this is certainly some awesome and exciting news to drop this Ash Wednesday!
As a massive fan of the original films, Bruce Campbell's career and Ash Vs Evil Dead, I was waiting for some sort of Ted Raimi based announcement. He is, in a role mirroring real life, to play Ash's childhood best friend. Then when you add to that the wonderful Lee Majors, being perfectly cast as, none-other-than, Ash's Dad, well then, that is an announcement that raises the bar.
The casting is, of course perfect, but beyond that the introduction of these two characters means that Starz, show runner Craig DiGregorio, Exec producers Campbell, Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi are set to continue to expand Ash's life and character and I, for one, couldn't be more thrilled.

I was already watching Season 2, now I am giddy to watch it right now!

Here is the official press release:

Beverly Hills, Calif., February 10, 2016 - STARZ has announced today that Lee Majors (Do You Believe) will play the role of Brock Williams, Ash’s father, and Ted Raimi (“Xena: Warrior Princess,” Spider-Man) will play the role of Ash’s childhood best friend, Chet Kaminski, in the STARZ Original series “Ash vs Evil Dead.” The series was previously renewed for a second season and will return in 2016.

Majors started his television career in “The Big Valley,” going on to “The Men from Shiloh,” to “Owen Marshall Counselor at Law,” to “The Six Million Dollar Man,” to “The Fall Guy,” to “Tour of Duty,” to “Raven” and countless television appearances on many series, specials, award shows and movies. He began his film career with Will Penny and Charlton Heston. Majors recently completed filming two movies Almosting It and Do You Believe. Majors will start filming on two feature films this summer, plus he has a lineup of several other feature films and television shows to be filmed in 2015/2016.

Cult horror movie favorite, Ted Raimi has appeared in all three original Evil Dead movies. His additional feature film credits include Midnight Meat Train, Shocker, Born Yesterday, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, The Grudge, Oz the Great and Powerful as well as the Spider-Man series of films. Television credits include “Supernatural,” “Twin Peaks,” “CSI: NY,” “Xena: Warrior Princess,” as well as “SeaQuest DSV” among many others.

The second season of the STARZ Original series “Ash vs Evil Dead” will be 10 half-hour episodes. The cast is led by Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, “Burn Notice”) in the role of Ash Williams; Lucy Lawless (“Salem,” “Spartacus”) as Ruby, who now possesses the powerful Necronomicon; Ray Santiago (“Touch,” Meet the Fockers) as Pablo Simon Bolivar, Ash’s loyal sidekick dealing with the trauma he suffered in the cabin; and Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) as Kelly Maxwell, who, grief-stricken after the death of her parents, plots revenge against The Evil Dead.

Directed by Benjamin Dickinson
Written by Benjamin Dickinson & Micah Bloomberg

Amazon Studios and Magnolia Pictures will release CREATIVE CONTROL in theaters March 11, 2016

About Creative Control:
The setting is New York, 5 minutes in the future. The glorious technological advances and communication devices of the near future meant to increase connectivity and alleviate boredom are only increasing the anxiety level of the insecure New Yorkers who've inherited them. David (writer/director Benjamin Dickinson) is an overworked, tech-addled advertising executive developing a high-profile marketing campaign for a new generation of Augmented Reality glasses. Feeling stuck in his relationship with yoga teacher Juliette (Nora Zehetner, BRICK, IFC's "Maron"), he envies the charmed life of his best friend, fashion photographer Wim (Dan Gill, THE WEDDING RINGER) and his entrancing girlfriend Sophie (Alexia Rasmussen, CALIFORNIA SOLO) - so he uses the glasses to develop a life-like avatar of her. Unwittingly, fantasy and reality begin to blur. As passions escalate and things get increasingly out of hand, the friends are forced to deal with the impending collision between their public, private and imaginary lives.
